My stats, male 47, running 20+ years, 5'4, 70kg. Averaged 50-70km per-week. Life time injury free runner. Before the Clifton 3 I used ASICS GT 2000 for years. No reason to change just felt intrigued about the product. I must say the transition has be seamless ran a 30km road / trail run in the first week of purchase and they worked great (love the noticeably softer impact). The price is compatible if not superior to other high end runners. The one issue that I had was, the toe box is a little tight (no blisters or issues) was just aware of the feeling when running and that is never a good thing. Very happy with my purchase would recommend them, I do believe I found my new favorite running shoe.
Really love my Clifton's especially for ironman training. Have found this model to be slightly more bulky than the previous model though.
Before Clifton 3 I have used Bondi 4 which provide fantastic foot support for more solid runners and great inside cushioning. Six months ago orthopedic surgeon told me that I need knee operation. Since I purchased Bondi 4 shoes the knee pain almost disappeared and I managed few triathlon races including half Ironman mostly bare feet. I would prefer wider toe box as I have quite flat foot and wearing orthotics. Couple of weeks ago I purchased Clifton 3, seem to be wider in toe box but the insole around heel is too rough - got blister during first 20k run - still barefoot. Will need to take socks next time. Also colour selection limited, missing info re. future availability on the website.
I liked the original Clifton, but somehow the 2nd version didn't seem to fit my foot the same way. Clifton 3 goes back to the original fit of number 1, and it's the best Clifton so far. I'm already using my 2nd pair, and it's a great supportive shoe for long runs and races.
Anyone getting knee problems ,muscle aches etc should try these shoes, the soles have excellent cushion and feel great for on road running, highly recommend these shoes.
I have found these Hoka shoes excellent for comfort and shock absorption when jogging. I am 74 years old with arthritic hips and knees, but can still jogg wearing these Hoka Clifton 3 shoes.
Have been running in them for 2 weeks now (about 80km) and couldn't be more happy. Would definitely recommend to those looking for increased support. I used to run in Kayano's and doubt i will ever go back now. If you are sitting on the fence I would just pull the trigger and get these, you wont regret it.
The Clifton 3 is easily the best running shoe I have had to date.i have had issues with many of my running shoes in the past but these shoes feel like your running on clouds .i had them a week and already shaved 87 seconds of my 10km PR.
received my clifton 3s on fri,and ran the sunshine coast marathon on sun. no blisters......wow. have been in asics kayano for years but been feeling 'flat" footed, the hoka cliftons gave the rebound ive been looking for. im sold, have found my new running shoe for life!!
The Clifton 3 is a great light weight shoe, the ride is amazing and i would highly recommend.
