I used these boots fresh out of the box for a 42 km hike over a couple of days on a grade 4 hike. They were great. I was concerned that I'd get some blisters etc from not having worn them prior but I needn't have worried. The were very comfortable and my feet felt perfect at the end of each day. I went half a size down in from my Hoka Clifton running shoes. I run in a 12.5, but the 12.5 in the Sky Toa was a little too roomy, so I opted for the 12 which was just right. I wasn't wearing thick socks though, so pending the thickness of your socks, it might make a difference. The stability, support and comfort of the shoe was great. I'd recommend it for that style of hiking.
